Is the control panel for the RF3 rated NEMA 4?
What are the air requirements for operating the RF3 backflush valve (pneumatic)?
Does the electric gear motor on the top of the RF3 have any special environmental ratings?
Can the RF3 be located outside?

1. Is the control panel for the RF3 rated NEMA 4?
Yes, this is the standard electrical enclosure on the RF3. NEMA 4 allows for:

            • Indoor & outdoor use

            • Falling liquids and light splashing

            • Nonhazardous dust, lint, fibers

            • Washdowns and splashing water

2. What are the air requirements for operating the RF3 backflush valve (pneumatic)?
For the Backflush Valve the pneumatic actuator requires 87 psi (6 bar) air supply pressure. (NOTE: This is for actuator air consumption for RF3s with Control System Types – EPT, PT and PTZ.)

3. Does the electric gear motor on the top of the RF3 have any special environmental ratings?
Yes, the motor on RF3s with Control System Types –  EPT, PT and PTZ – is rated under IP55. IP55 allows for:

            • 5 = Protected against dust – limited ingress (no harmful deposit)

            • 5 = Protected against low pressure jets if water from all directions - limited ingress permitted

4.Can the RF3 be located outside?
Yes, if the environment does not go beyond what is outlined under NEMA 4 and IP55 definitions. NOTE: The RF3 has to be protected from freezing. This includes the main housing, gauge lines & backflush line. “Solid water has terrible viscosity”
